Another 2.7-million Sputnik V vaccines arrive in the Philippines

THE government of the Philippines received on Tuesday around 2.7 million of Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccines manufactured by Gamaleya Research Institute of Russia.

The Philippine Airlines (PAL) plane that carried the vaccines procured by the Philippine government from Russia landed at around 3 pm at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

With this new shipment, the government already procured a total of 4.39 million doses of the Sputnik V vaccines, further boosting the country’s overall COVID-19 vaccine inventory to 108,912,460 doses.

The government also procured COVID-19 vaccines from Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca, Sinovac, Sinopharm, and Johnson & Johnson.

About 59.4 million doses were already administered to the population since the start of the government’s vaccination program last March.

More than 27.4 million individuals or 35.58 percent of the target population are already fully vaccinated.
