THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) expressed its readiness with regard to the holding of the national and local elections on May 9, 2022.

In an interview with media, Comelec Chairman Saidamen Pangarungan in Abra, he declared that the poll body is “very much ready” for the upcoming elections.

He said ballot printing has ended, and that they will continue with the deployment of all election paraphernalia.

Pangarungan even said with a slight boast that the Comelec’s preparations and other election-related work are all “ahead of schedule.”

On the other hand, Comelec Commissioner George Garcia said the batteries for the vote-counting machines (VCMs) have been deployed 100 percent, while the deployment of VCMs themselves is already at almost 90 percent done.

Garcia said they have also started deploying the election ballots to other areas in the country with much care, election ballots being one of the accountable documents every time there is an election.
