THE Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is eyeing to give temporary jobs to residents affected by the latest eruption at Taal Volcano in the province of Batangas.
During the Talk to the People last night, DOLE Secretary Silvestre Bello III that 10 days of work with an equivalent wage of P400 per day, which is the prevailing minimum wage in the region, will be given by the DOLE to program beneficiaries, especially those living in high risk areas such as in Agoncillo, Laurel, San Luis, Calatagan and Calaca.
According to Bello, he already instructed their finance officer to allot P50 up to P100 million as funding if in case more affected residents are added.
Bello assured that the DOLE is ready in case the situation in Taal Volcano escalates further, although they expect the situation in the volcano to improve and it will eventually calm down in the the next few weeks.
