AFAB strengthens advocacy against violence toward women and children

THE Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) is actively participating in the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW), observed from November 25 to December 12.

This annual initiative, led by the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW), aligns with the global “UNITE by 2030 to End Violence Against Women” campaign by UN Women.

AFAB’s active involvement underscores its commitment to creating a violence-free environment for women and children, contributing to a more equitable and inclusive society.

Through its Gender and Development Committee, AFAB has organized a series of activities to raise awareness about laws and policies designed to protect women and children from violence.

Among the key legislations highlighted is Republic Act No. 9262, also known as the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004. These initiatives aim to educate the community, promote advocacy, and inspire action to prevent violence.

Orange, the campaign’s official color, symbolizes hope and a brighter future for women and children.

AFAB encourages its community members to incorporate orange in their displays, clothing, and online posts, accompanied by hashtags like #VAWFreePH and #RaiseYourVoice to amplify the movement’s message.

This campaign serves as a powerful reminder of the ongoing struggles faced by women in the Philippines and worldwide.

AFAB’s proactive participation reflects its dedication to fostering gender equality and advancing community welfare, reinforcing its impact not just within the Freeport Area of Bataan but also in the broader national effort to combat violence against women and children.
