Ask any Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) and the most common answer why they chose to work abroad is to attain the family’s dream of having a better life. The so-called better life is having material assets they can only dream of before.

Foremost among these assets is a new and better home for the family, especially those living in remote areas of the country. That has always been the dream.

To help realize the OFW’s dream, mobile app Free Bee from PLDT Global Corporation (PGC) teamed up with first online mortgage broking platform Nook to provide home loan brokerage services for OFWs looking to build their homes in the Philippines.

Under the partnership, OFWs can access Nook’s services on Free Bee. Nook can help global Filipinos conveniently access its partner-banks’ different housing loan products on its platform.

We are excited with the partnership with PLDT Global and Free Bee. Mortgage brokering is something new in the Philippines. And we want Filipinos all over the world, especially the hardworking OFWs, to experience seamless and fast home loan transactions when they purchase their properties back home. Nook, together with PLDT Global, will make sure that their dream of having their own homes will be simple,” said Chris Elder, CEO at Nook.

PGC, the international arm of PLDT, and Free Bee continue to collaborate with like-minded brands and companies that aim to reach a wider overseas Filipino market.

Through Free Bee, PGC hopes to provide our customers with convenient and relevant services that can bring them closer to achieving their goals in life, and owning a home is one of the most potent motivators of overseas Filipinos. This partnership with Nook allows us to bring our customers one step closer to fulfilling that dream,” said Albert Villa-Real, SVP and Chief Commercial Officer at PGC.

Available in 180 countries, Free Bee helps OFWs call their loved ones through the app, even when their contacts are offline. It also allows them to conveniently top-up or send load to Smart, TNT, and Free Bee customers. The app also allows them to pay Philippine utility bills, and access other content, products, services, and offerings by partners.

In 2020, Free Bee was recognized as the Most Innovative Customer Facing Solution by the Pacific Telecom Council.
