LTFRB suspends Florida bus operations over reckless driving incident

In line with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s directive to prioritize passenger safety nationwide, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has ordered the preventive suspension of GV Florida Transport Inc. following a viral road racing incident involving its buses on a national highway.

LTFRB Chairperson Teofilo Guadiz III announced that the Florida bus units involved are suspended for 30 days due to the company’s alleged employment of reckless drivers.

In addition, the LTFRB has issued a Show Cause Order requiring GV Florida Transport Inc. to submit a written explanation as to why its Certificate of Public Convenience (CPC) should not be suspended, cancelled, or revoked. The bus company must file its response and appear at the scheduled hearing on June 25, 2025. Failure to comply will be considered a waiver of the right to be heard.

During the 30-day suspension period, the involved drivers are required to undergo a Road Safety Seminar and mandatory drug testing. The affected bus units must also pass a roadworthiness inspection conducted by the Land Transportation Office (LTO) or an accredited vehicle inspection center.

Chairperson Guadiz further stated that GV Florida Transport Inc. has been ordered to surrender the “For Hire” plates of the suspended units immediately upon receipt of the suspension order.

Should any of the suspended buses be found operating during the suspension period, they will be subject to apprehension and impoundment by the LTO Enforcement Division, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), the Philippine National Police–Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG), and other relevant traffic enforcement agencies.
