Aegis vocalist Mercy Sunot passes away after battle with cancer

MERCY Sunot, one of the iconic vocalists of the beloved OPM band Aegis, has passed away after a courageous fight against cancer. The band confirmed the heartbreaking news through their official Facebook page on Monday morning.

“It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Mercy, one of the beloved vocalists of AEGIS Band. She bravely fought her battle with cancer but has now found peace and rest,” the band wrote in a collective statement.

Aegis paid tribute to Mercy’s remarkable contributions to their music and the lives of their fans, saying her voice “brought comfort, joy, and strength to so many.”

Following the announcement, Mercy’s sister and fellow Aegis member, Stephanie Ken, changed her social media profile photos to a black image featuring a lit candle, symbolizing mourning and remembrance.

Just days before her passing, Mercy shared a post on social media requesting prayers after undergoing lung surgery, reflecting her strength and connection with her fans until the end.
