Use of face mask not anymore mandatory within three months if COVID-19 cases continue to drop

A TOP infectious disease expert said the use of face masks may not be made mandatory anymore in the next three months if COVID-19 cases continue to crop.

Based on estimates made by Dr. Rontgene Solante, he clarified that there is still a need to wear face masks within the next two to three months.

But if the number of COVID-19 cases will continue to decline to less than 200 cases daily within the next three months, it is possible that its use can be scrapped already.

However, Solante said that it is still important to use face masks to avoid the spread of COVID-19 especially now that there are new sub-variants of the Omicron variant of COVID-19.

He emphasized that the country benefited from the continued use of face maks since it helped to curb the spread of the Omicron variant.

According to Solante, it is still important to use face masks for COVID-19 cases to continue to drop, even if other countries such as South Korea already removed the mandatory use of face masks because of the continued decline of COVID-19 cases there.
