THE guidelines for booster shots of 18 years old-and-above individuals may be released in the next two days, according to the National Vaccination Operations Center (NVOC).
The Department of Health (DOH) said the guidelines may come out this Saturday or next week.
During the Laging Handa public briefing, NVOC chairperson Undersecretary Myrna Cabotaje said that the moment that guidelines are released, local government units (LGUs) may start administering booster shots to the mentioned age population.
With regard to pediatric vaccination for the 5-11 year-old age bracket, Cabotaje said there are still no recommendations about it from the experts.
However, Cabotaje said that they will continue to monitor developments and that the issue is already in their radar.
They are hoping that the moment the Food and Drug Administration approves the amended Emergency Use Authorization of Pfizer and other vaccines for the younger set, the administration of the first and second doses will start in the first quarter of next year.
They just need to get the recommendation of experts on this, she added.
