THE Philippine National Police (PNP) recorded its 104th COVID-19 fatality, a liaison officer from the Mindoro Marinduque Romblon Palawan (MIMAROPA) region.
PNP Chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar said the 53-year-old police officer, was admitted to the hospital on August 20 when he experienced fever. He then underwent an RT-PCR test which yielded a positive result.
On August 21, the patient experienced difficulty in breathing and succumbed while being treated. He was declared dead by the attending physician due to severe pneumonia.
Medical records revealed that the patient underwent dialysis for almost three years due to Chronic Kidney Disease and diagnosed as diabetic with hypertension. He received his first jab of the COVID-19 vaccine last August 19.
“Ipinaaabot ko sa pamilya ng ating pulis ang aking taos pusong pakikiramay. Patuloy po ang pagsisikap ng PNP upang tugunan ang pangangailangan ng bawat pulis na tinamaan ng naturang virus,” Eleazar said.
The PNP said that as of Sunday morning, around 97,184 police personnel or 43.61 percent have been fully vaccinated while 105,016% or 47.12 percent have already received their first dose of the vaccine, and there are only 20,657 or 9.27 percent have not been vaccinated yet.
Further, the PNP Health Service recorded 76 recoveries, raising the total recovered personnel to 32,295 while 143 new cases were logged bringing the total cases to 34,316 with 1,917 cases listed as active.
