DBM OIC Canda tests positive for COVID-19

DEPARTMENT of Budget and Management (DBM) Officer-in-Charge  Undersecretary Tina Rose Marie Canda has confirmed Monday that she tested positive for COVID-19.

In a phone interview, Canda, albeit asymptomatic, first took a Reverse Transcription -Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) test on August 22 prior to the day of the 2022 national budget proposal’s submission. The RT-PCR test, however, showed a positive result for the disease.

The DBM OIC shared that she opted to do another swabbing due to a past experience where her COVID-19 test turned out as a false positive result.

Our routine exam before going to those events, usually we have an antigen. I wanted to have an RT-PCR, so the RT-PCR came out positive. I’ve had a history of false positives, so I just had myself re-swabbed. Apparently, I’m asymptomatic but I hope it stays that way,” Canda stated.

In spite of the infection, Canda said that she is currently undergoing quarantine and assured that her responsibility would not be affected as long as she is in a stable condition.

I’m in quarantine right now. I’m not even getting out of my room. I still function, I still do my work here inside my room in my house,” the DBM OIC shared.
