TIWALA ang Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) na makakabawi ang bansa pagkatapos ng dalawang linggong lockdown.
Ang kagawaran ay patuloy namang gumagawa ng hakbang at iba pang interbensyon upang maprotektahan at matugunan ang pangangailangan ng mga manggagawa sa panahon ng enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) na magsisimula bukas, Agosto 6.
“Because of this two-week lockdown, we expect to see that employment rate will go (on a) downward trend and unemployment rate will increase. But it is only for two weeks. I am confident we will bounce back after the two-week lockdown,” pahayag ni Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III ngayong Huwebes.
Nauna nang humiling si Bello ng supplemental budget na P2 bilyon mula sa Department of Budget and Management upang pondohan ang amelioration program COVID-19 Adjustment Measures Program (CAMP) ng kagawaran.
“We will be expediting the implementation of our programs to ensure that displaced workers would still be able to earn a living for their families instead of totally being unemployed.”
Sa simula pa lamang ng COVID pandemic, ang DOLE ay nakapagbigay na ng tulong sa mga informal workers emergency employment sa pamamagitan ng Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers or TUPAD program.
Sa mga manggagawa naman mula sa formal sector, ang DOLE ay nagpatupad ng CAMP para sa displaced employees.
“These are our safety net programs aimed to provide financial support to affected workers in both formal and informal sectors,” dagdag pa ng kalihim.
Sa muling pagpapatupad ng ECQ sa National Capital Region, inaasahan na ng DOLE na makakatanggap na sila ng mga aplikasyon mula sa mga gustong mapasama sa cash assistance programs.
