COVID-19 cases in PH getting closer to 1 million

With the rate things are going, it’s only a few more days before the national COVID-19 case count can reach the 1-million mark.

COVID-19 Case Bulletin #403 of the Department of Health (DOH) recorded an additional 9,227 new COVID-19 cases today, April 21, 2021, for a total of 962,307 cases.

Today is the third straight day that new COVID-19 cases did not breach the 10,000 mark.

Recoveries today reached 19,699 for an overall count of 829,608 people that have recovered from COVID-19.

Meanwhile, 124 deaths were recorded today to bring the overall count to a 16,265 total.

Active cases, on the other hand, were at 116,434 only.

The DOH said the high number of recoveries that started last Monday was because the department’s Oplan Recovery or “recovery tagging,” will now be done daily, unlike the previous practice where data is collected weekly and only then will the number of recovery tagging be released

The DOH added that starting today, April 21, testing numbers recorded in the case bulletin will be based on the output coming from DOH-accredited laboratories for the past two days.

This is to avoid confusion coming from reporting of incomplete data.
