6,385 new COVID-19 cases added today; is GCQ possible after May 14?

A total of 6,385 new cases were added to the overall COVID-19 case tally today, on the eve of the May 14 deadline where “NCR Plus” is supposed to shift to a new community quarantine status.

The Department of Health (DOH) COVID-19 Case Bulletin #425 showed that with the additional new cases, this brings the total case count to a 1,124,724 tally.

Meanwhile, 4,289 were tagged as recoveries, bringing the total to 1,050,643 people who recovered from the dreaded disease.

There were also 107 deaths recorded today for an 18,821 total COVID-19 fatalities.

Around 20 duplicates were stricken off the total case count, with 18 counted as recoveries.

Also, 59 cases that were tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths upon final validation.

All laboratories were operational on May 11, 2021 and were able to submit data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS).

Meanwhile, the NCR Plus, composed of the National Capital Region, Bulacan, Laguna, Cavite and Rizal, currently under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ), is awaiting the decision of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) on a new quarantine status.

MECQ is supposed to end tomorrow, May 14, 2021.
