AN additional 50 new cases of the highly transmissible Omicron subvariant BA.5 was reported in the country.
Because of this, the overall number of BA.5 cases in the country has now reached 93, the Department of Health (DOH) said today.
According to DOH Spokesperson and Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire, 38 from the said number came from Western Visayas, five from the National Capital Region, and 12 from Returning Overseas Filipinos (ROFs).
Among the 50 hit by BA.5, 41 have already recovered while four others are still in isolation, while the status of the five others are still undetermined.
Meanwhile, Vergeire said the DOH was also able to record 11 new BA.2.12.1 subvariant cases and two other BA.4 subvariant cases.
Out of the 11 cases, 10 have already recovered while one is still under isolation.
For the two BA.4 subvariant cases, one came from Region 6 while the other is an ROF and both have already recovered.
Their exposure is not yet determined while their travel histories are still being verified.
