Booster shots in the US awaiting FDA approval

AS COVID-19 continuously alarms the United States, an official rollout of booster doses could begin within weeks while waiting for authorization of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

According to Dr. Anthony Fauci, it is likely to give three doses of COVID-19 vaccines for full protection. He cited that an Israeli study shows a decrease in infection from the virus among people who got a booster or third shot.

Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, mentioned in a briefing that there was a good reason to believe that third shot is durable if it is durable, then there will be most likely to receive three doses.

The US FDA would have to decide whether the Americans will get three doses of COVID-19 vaccine after Moderna and Pfizer applied for FDA authorization to administer its third shot either six to eight months after receiving the second dose.

According to the National Association of County and City Health Departments, local health departments have seen people called from getting the appointment even if doses are yet to be available to the public.
