More than 7k new COVID-19 cases added today to bring case count to 1.087 million

The Department of Health (DOH) said about 7,733 new COVID-19 cases were added today, to bring the overall total to 1,087,885 of COVID-19 infections in the country.

Of the total, 6.1 percent, or 66,626, were tagged as active cases.

The DOH COVID-19 Case Bulletin # 419 said an additional 4,227 people recovered from the disease to bring to 1,003,160 the total number of recoveries.

Meanwhile, 108 were reported to have died, bringing the total number of fatalities to 18,099 so far.

The DOH also noted 20 duplicates were removed from the total case count where 14 were tagged as recoveries.

Upon final validation, 64 cases were reclassified as deaths after being previously tagged as recoveries.

All laboratories were operational on May 5, 2021 and all were able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS).
