More than 11k new COVID-19 cases recorded today – DOH

The Department of Health (DOH), in its latest bulletin, recorded 11,101 new COVID-19 cases today.

This raises the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country to 926,052, based on the DOH COVID-19 Case Bulletin #399 released today, April 17, 2021.

Meanwhile, 799 cases were tagged as recoveries while 72 people have died.

In terms of the overall number of COVID-19 cases in the country, 22.0 percent (203,710) are active cases, 76.3 percent (706,532) tallied as recoveries, while 1.71 percent (15,810) have died.

The DOH noted that 20 duplicates were removed from the total case count, where eight (8) were tagged as recoveries.

Also, 16 cases that were previously recorded as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.

Nine laboratories were also not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS) on April 16, 2021.

As always, the DOH reminds the public to avoid being complacent and to strictly observe minimum public health standards in order to curb the further spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and all its variants.
