VACCINE supply is slowly stabilizing with the delivery this morning of an additional one million doses of China-made Coronavac COVID-19vaccines developed, manufactured and distributed by Sinovac Biotech.
The shipment which arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport via Cebu Pacific flight 5J671 around 7:30 a.m. was received by Health Secretary Francisco Duque III and vaccine czar Carlito Galvez. Likewise part of the welcoming party were Manila-based Chinese Embassy officials.
According to Galvez, a huge chunk of the China-made vaccines will be distributed and administered to residents in provinces deemed as high-risk for the coronavirus disease.
“May sinasabi si President (Rodrigo) Duterte and we will comply na sa mga areas kagaya ng Zamboanga at iba pang lugar sa Region 6 na tumataas ang kaso. Ang gusto niya mabigyan din ang lahat ng probinsya,” Galvez said.
Pressed for details, Galvez hinted at Mindanao provinces as the mostly recipients of the new deliveries.
“So ginawa po natin 1 million na ito. Majority po sa Mindanao ide-deploy dahil ‘yung Pfizer at Moderna na darating, majority noon NCR na,” added Galvez adding that the new deliveries will first have to be brought to a cold storage facility in Marikina City.
Galvez did not say whether the new deliveries form part of the government procurement covering 25 million jabs.
