THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) is expecting that it will be able to proclaim this week the winning senators and partylist groups at the recently concluded national and local elections within the week.
According to Comelec Commissioner Marlon Casquejo, once the transmission of the results is completed and the hard copies of the Certificates of Canvass (COC) reach the Comelec, the counting process will be much faster.
He said that the transmission of electronic results of the voting should be completed first in order have a strong for the National Board of Canvassers (NBOC) to proclaim the winners.
“It’s because there are CBOCs (City Board of Canvassers) that haven’t transmitted yet because it’s not yet complete so the basis of proclamation of our senators and even party-list is the transmitted result from the PBOC (Provincial Board of Canvassers), or CBOC to the NBOC. Once they are able to transmit then we can proclaim the winning senators and partylist,” said Casquejo.
“We will try to do it this week if ever. Hopefully this week if we can do it then we can proclaim,” he added..
