WESTERN Mindanao Command (WesMinCom) Commander Maj. Gen. Alfredo Rosario Jr. reminded the troops in Basilan to prepare for any worst-case scenarios in relation to the upcoming national and local elections.
The reminder was done by Gen. Rosario during his visit to the troops of Joint Task Force (JTF) Basilan.
In his visit, Gen. Rosario was given a security briefing by Brig. Gen. Domingo Gobway, JTF Basilan Commander, on the troops’ preparations in implementing security measures in their area of responsibility during the elections.
Gen. Rosario reminded the troops that terrorist groups may attempt to disrupt the elections in Basilan, and that the military should make sure that these groups will not succeed.
It was learned that Basilan may be placed under the Commission on Elections’ control due to a high level of threats of violence.
