VICE President Sara Duterte-Carpio formally assumed the position of Secretary of the Department of Education (DepEd) today during the formal turnover rites held at the DepEd Central Office, which VP Sara called “thanksgiving and salute.”
The department’s flag, the DepEd’s official seal, was turned over by outgoing DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones, including the education program of action up to the year 2030.
Briones mentioned in her message that she saw in Dutert-Carpio the sincere love for school children that will surely help bring them to a better future.
She also encouraged the new education chief not to wait for a student to step into a college or university but instead go for molding students early to achieve better and more efficient education.
The new DepEd chief, on the other hand, said that Briones will continue to help as a consultant of DepEd, and likewise admitted being sad to see Briones go.
However, the new DepEd Secretary assured that her priority will be to give quality education to the youth.
She also thanked all officials and employees who assisted Briones for the past six years in leading and managing the education sector.
