Vice-Mayor in Cavite arrested for undocumented firearms

Local police have arrested a Vice-Mayor and his staff for using several undocumented fire arms in Barangay Maymangga, Amadeo in Cavite.

The suspects were identified as Amadeo, Cavite Vice-Mayor Conrado Viado and his staff member Florencio Dimaano alias ‘Toto’, 62.

The Provincial Intelligence Unit led by Police Lt. Col. Vicente Cabatingan of the Cavite Provincial Police Office filed a 15 search warrant issued by Executive Judge Cynthia Marino-Ricablanca of the Regional Trial Court of Sta. Cruz, Laguna.

Police have raided the residence of Viado and confiscated a cache of weapons. Even Viado’s staff have been found hiding several illegal firearms.

Dimaano, on the other hand, is said to be an alleged member of the “Asiong Group”, a Gun-for-hire syndicate operating in Cavite province.

A short magazine M16 rifle, a long M16 rifle, live ammunition and a police uniform were recovered from Dimaano.

A M14 rifle, M16 rifle, shotgun, 1 cartridge, 6 cal.45 and cal.22 pistol, cal.22 rifle and cal.38 revolver were also recovered from his house.

The confiscated contrabands will be taken to the Provincial Crime Laboratory and be investigated to determine which weapons they used in their illegal activities.

Vice Mayor Viado is also being investigated if he is also connected to the group.
