Vape with cannabis, kush, shabu worth at least P7.3 million seized at NAIA

A MULTI-agency group led by the Bureau of Customs Ninoy Aquino International Airport (BOC NAIA) successfully intercepted three air parcels containing illegal drugs last week at the Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) in Pasay City.

The operation, conducted by BOC NAIA in partnership with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (NAIA-IADITG), seized the three air parcels found to contain a total of 96 disposable vape cartridges filled with cannabis oil, 468 grams of “kush” or high-grade marijuana, plus 957 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu, with a total estimated street value of P7,386,672.

The parcels were said to have originated from the USA and Pakistan, and were addressed to various recipients in Cebu City, Bacolod City, and Naga City.

The drugs are now in the custody of PDEA for further investigation, while potential charges under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and RA 10863, or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA), are being readied.

BOC Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio emphasized the agency’s commitment in preventing illegal drugs from entering the country remains unwavering. “This operation underscores our dedication to safeguarding our communities.”
