CAMP BGen Vicente P Lim, Canlubang, Laguna — Two personnel of the Police Regional Office 4-A (PRO4A) tested positive during the random drug testing facilitated by Regional Crime Laboratory Office (RCLO) and Regional Intelligence Division (RID) 4A, provincial police PIO chief Police Captain Mary Anne Crester Torres said yesterday.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) internal cleansing program conducted a surprise inspection for PNP personnel through the order of the PNP Chief Police General Debold Sinas to conduct intensified internal cleansing within the organization.
The Regional Director, PRO CALABARZON, Police Brig. Gen, Felipe Natividad ordered the relief of the two personnel from Calamba City Police Station and Candelaria Municipal Police Station who were tested positive for methamphetamine hydrochloride after two days of random drug testing last January 4 and January 13, 2021.
They were placed under the Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit (PHAU) Section and endorsed for summary dismissal proceedings. Although his specimen is still for confirmatory testing, the other voluntarily surrendered his issued firearms and submitted himself to his superior, stating that he will go on absent without leave (AWOL).
Appropriate documents are being prepared for both the administrative case of Grave Misconduct and criminal charges to be filed against the erring PNP Personnel.
“We required all our PRO4A personnel to submit themselves for a drug test so that we could identify those who are using illegal drugs. Bilang tagapag-patupad ng batas, tayo dapat ang mangunang sumunod sa batas, bago natin ito ipatupad,” said Gen. Natividad.
“This is a stern warning to all the members of PRO4A who are still engaging in illegal drugs. I have been firm in my orders that we will intensify our internal cleansing program. I will relieve you immediately kapag nag positive kayo at napatunayan na gumagamit kayo ng ipinagbabawal na droga. The random drug testing to all the personnel shall continue, hindi tayo titigil hanggang hindi nalilinis ang ating hanay lalong lalo na dito sa PRO4A. Aalisin natin ang lahat ng bulok na patuloy na sumisira sa magandang imahe ng PNP,” Gen. Natividad added.
