On the first day of the general community quarantine with heightened restrictions (GCQ-HR), the Department of Health (DOH) said 6,739 new COVID-19 cases were added to the total tally.
This brings the overall COVID-19 case count to 1,138,187 those who have been infected by the dreaded disease.
This number of active cases, on the other hand, again fell below the 60 thousand level, with 56,709 total active cases registered.
Those who have recovered from the disease, meanwhile, is now at 1,062.427 after 8,952 were able to recover.
However, 93 people also died, which brings the COVID-19 deaths to a 19,051 total.
A total of19 duplicates were removed from the total case count, of which 12 cases are recoveries.
Moreover, 36 cases that were previously recorded as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.
All laboratories were operational on May 13, 2021 while nine laboratories failed to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS).
