THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) said three party-list groups will get three seats each, while two others will get two each at the 20th Congress.
The three party-list groups are Akbayan, Duterte Youth and Tingog, while the two others are ACT-CIS and Ako Bicol.
The first three Akbayan nominees are Chel Diokno, Percival Cendana and Dadah Kiram Ismula, while for Duterte Youth it’s Drixie Mae Suarez Cardema, Berlin Baday Lingwa and Ron Godfrey Waggawag Bawalan. The 3 nominees for Tingog party-list, on the other hand, are Andrew Julian Romualdez, Jude Acidre and Happy Calatrava.
Comelec Chairman George Erwin Garcia said the proclamation of the all 63 party-list representatives will push through on Monday. The party-list group that garnered not less than two percent of the total number of votes under the party-list system will get one seat each.
Meanwhile, the party-list group that failed to muster two percent of the total votes in two consecutive elections will be automatically stripped of the accreditation.
However, if they wish to run again in the next election, they should again file a petition for accreditation, according to Garcia.
The poll chief added that they will not accept anymore any party list whose names were based on popular TV shows or government assistance programs.
Poll watchdog Kontra Daya earlier pronounced that the leading party-list group in pre-election surveys were those related to or associated with political clans, businesses, and those connected with the military.
“Political dynasties appear to dominate 4PS (Abalos), ACT-CIS (Tulfo and Yap), FPJ Bantay Bayan (Poe Llamanzares with Dolor and Paton families) and Tingog Sinirangan (Romualdez). Big business interests are apparent in Ako Bicol (Sunwest) and TGP (Teravera; contractor of DPWH projects). Duterte Youth has military connections which explains its track record for red- tagging,” the poll watchdog emphasized.
