AS part of the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) continued internal cleansing, the Internal Affairs Service (IAS) was ordered to initiate the summary dismissal proceedings against a Manila policeman tagged in the killing of a businessman in Binondo and a Mandaluyong City cop who was tagged as a shabu supplier.

Police Maj. Gen. Albert Ignatius Ferro, Director of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), was also ordered to replace all of its Quezon City Field Unit personnel, to disarm and put them under restrictive custody while the investigation is being conducted

The order stemmed over allegations of extortion worth P3 million in exchange for the release of an arrested businessman, .

“There is no place in the PNP for these types of policemen. The public can rest assured that we will continue to cleanse the ranks as part of our Intensified Cleanliness Policy,” said PNP Chief, Police General Guillermo Eleazar.

PSMSgt. Bernardo Oriol Jr. was tagged as a suspect in the August 2 murder of businessman Naiquian Yuan, who was ambushed by motorcycle-riding perpetrators in Malate, Manila. He was arrested along with his alleged cohort Shi Shanbang last August 6 in Binondo.

Manila Police District investigators said Oriol’s outfit looked similar to the clothes worn by one of the motorcycle-riding suspects and his motorcycle also matched the description of the one used in the ambush.

Meanwhile, in Mandaluyong City, PSSgt. Manuel Bien, assigned at the Police Security Protection Group, was identified as the alleged source of illegal drugs by suspect Alfie Gomez. Both men were nabbed in an August 9 police anti-narcotics operation.

“I have already ordered the Internal Affairs Service under Inspector General Alfegar Triambulo to fast-track the summary dismissal proceedings against the Manila police member involved in the killing of a businessman and the policeman assigned in Mandaluyong who was caught with shabu after he was identified by a drug pusher as an illegal drug supplier,” said PGen. Eleazar.

“Together with the filing of an administrative case, we will make sure that they will face criminal charges as well. The PNP will not hesitate to remove them from the ranks, those who continue to besmirch the trust and confidence that the public has on the PNP,” he added.
