Former NCAA MVP Sudan Daniel died Saturday morning in Calatagan, Batangas.

No official cause of death has been released though some sources said he succumbed due to an asthma attack.

The 6-foot-7 Daniel, an American, was instrumental in helping guide the San Beda Red Lions to a perfect NCAA season back in 2010.

During NCAA Season 86, he reaped individual awards where he won both Season MVP and Finals MVP awards in a star-studded San Beda squad coached then by Frankie Lim.

Daniel, who was given the moniker “Superman,” suffered an ACL injury and was unable to suit up for the Red Lions’ title defense the following season.

Described by many of his peers in the collegiate ranks as an American with a Filipino heart, he was seen as a humble and gentle person despite his many achievements. He chose to stay and live in the country, where he was seen to be truly Pinoy in mindset and fits well in the Filipino culture.

His last basketball-related stint was being the voice for the Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3×3 tournaments for the past two years.
