Soldiers donate half-day meal allowance to CARAGA folk

CALAMBA CITY, LAGUNA – Soldiers from the 2nd Infantry Division donated their half-day’s meal allowance worth Php 151,900 to residents of the CARAGA Administrative Regions severely affected by Typhoon Vicky.

Captain Jayrald Ternio, Chief of the Public Information Office of the 2nd Infantry Division said that the  Call for Donations was spearheaded by the Jungle Fighter Ladies Club (JFLC). The club is composed of wives of officers and enlisted personnel, female officers, enlisted women, and female civilian human resource personnel of the division advocating service to the people and in support to the mission of 2ID as a whole.

All donations collected were turned over to the Bayugan Young Leaders Organization or BYLO – a Youth For Peace organization that will facilitate the relief efforts in Mindanao.

Lynette Almerol, adviser of the JFLC, expressed her gratitude to the youth organization for their help when they needed it the most.

“We will never forget what you did for us when we needed help. May we all continue to unite and endeavor to  provide aid to those struck by different challenges in our country.” she  said.

Sisa Cabangbang, President of the JFLC, praised the soldiers of the 2ID for their generosity and compassion, which will make a big difference to the lives of Filipino brothers and sisters in CARAGA as they start rebuilding their lives after the tragedy.

Captain Ternio also said that Maj. Gen. Greg Almerol, Commander of the 2ID, acknowledged such endeavor and emphasized that there is no effort big or small in keeping their oath to be of service to fellowmen not only in the Southern Tagalog region but across the country.
