FIL-AM figure skater Sofia Frank is pushing hard on her training to fulfill her dream of qualifying for the 2022 Winter Olympics, which will be held February 4-20, 2022 in Beijing, China.
Sofia has long dreamed of becoming a US figure skater, a sport that became close to her heart when she was only three years old.
After she was brought by her father to the Pasadena Ice Skating Center to get away from sweltering heat, she saw girls in their nice dresses and swirling all around the rink.
“I immediately fell in love with ice skating and I asked my parents that I wanted to be able to do the same! I asked my parents if I can have lessons, too,” Sofia narrated.
At the young age of 15, Sofia was already training to qualify for the upcoming Olympiad while carrying the Philippine flag.
Sofia is currently in thick of preparations as she will once again represent the Philippines at The Nebelhorn Trophy in Germany starting September 22 together with Edrian Paul Celestino, a Fil-Canadian figure skater.
She is attempting to become the first female figure skater to represent the Philippines at the Winter Olympics.
For his part, Edrian Paul Celestino will be vying to become the second men’s figure skater from the Philippines to qualify for the Olympics after Michael Christian Martinez, the first Filipino Winter Olympian, who competed at the 2014 Winter Olympics held in Sochi, Krasnodar Krai in Russia.
