SM City Olongapo Central and SM City Olongapo Downtown ushered in the Chinese New Year with a lively Dragon and Lion Dance that drew excited crowds across both malls.

Shoppers paused to watch and record the spectacle as performers, clad in bright and intricate costumes, moved rhythmically to the thunderous sounds of drums, gongs, and cymbals.

The Dragon and Lion Dance is a traditional scene, giving a joyful and festive ambience throughout the mall, drawing cheers and applause from delighted mallgoers.

Children watched in awe while families enjoyed the festive atmosphere, as the performance symbolized good luck, prosperity, and fresh beginnings for the year ahead.

The Lunar New Year, which coincides with the first new moon of the lunar calendar, is a 15-day festival held between between 21 January and 20 February every year.

The folklore is believed to reflect stories of villagers scaring off a monster by imitating a lion and banging pots.
