Laguna Police Provincial Director, Police Col. Serafin Petalio II, today created “Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) Perez” to expedite the investigation and hunt down the persons behind the killing last night of Los Baños Mayor Ceasar Perez.
Lt. Col. Jesson Bombassi was designated head of the special investigation team together with the CIDG-Laguna and Provincial Intelligence Unit.
Los Baños Municipal Police Station (MPS) Chief Police Lieutenant Colonel Reycon Garduque reported that Perez, 66 years old, a resident of Grove Brgy. Batong Malake, Los Baños, Laguna was shot by assailants at 8:45 p.m. on Dec. 3, 2020 at the Los Baños Municipal Hall, Brgy. Timugan, Los Baños, Laguna.
The mayor was having a body massage at the municipal spa located at Brgy. Baybayin, Los Baños, Laguna. He then proceeded to the municipal hall and while walking at the receiving area, an unidentified suspect came from an unknown direction and shot the victim twice from behind, hitting the back-left portion of the victim’s head. The unidentified suspect immediately fled towards an unknown direction.
The victim was immediately rushed to the Health Serv Medical Hospital in Los Baños, Laguna for immediate medical treatment but was declared dead by the attending physician after medical personnel tried to revive him for 30 minutes.
In 2017, his brother, Ruel Perez, 48, was also killed by two armed men while riding on a motorcycle at the national highway in Barangay Maahas.
