THE Senate will make public a portion of the report regarding the alleged hacking at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) that is being discussed in an executive session in Congress.
This came after Senate Committee on Electoral Reforms head Sen. Imee Marcos confirmed that there was no hacking but there was an apparent breach or leaked information from Smartmatic.
According to Senate President Vicente Sotto III, he learned that a personnel from Smartmatic brought out a laptop and allowed its contents to be copied by an unidentified group.
Sotto emphasized that even if there was no actual hacking, the incident is a serious one that is why they will allow the authorities to investigate the incident.
It is good that the incident was investigated by the National Bureau of Investigation because this information came out, even if the Comelec denies and belittles the incident.
Comelec Commisioner Marlon Casquejo, however, refused to comment on the issue because it came out from an executive session.
