Sen. Villanueva, CIBAC break ground P40-million Mayor Joni Villanueva Sports Center in Bocaue, Bulacan

A soon to rise P40-million sports center to be built in Bocaue, Bulacan was broke ground as the people here continue receiving gift of blessings in a form of donated property by the late Mayor Joni Villanueva-Tugna.

Senator Joel Villanueva together with Congressman Domeng Rivera of the Citizens Battle Against Corruption (CIBAC) Party List graced the groundbreaking ceremony of the said sports center named after to the senator’s late sister will be called Mayor Joni Villanueva Sports Center located in Barangay Binang 2nd in Bocaue on Tuesday.

The more than 1,100-square meter land according to Senator Villanueva was donated by the former mayor, her sister to the local municipality which is the late mayor’s dream project prior of her death last May of this year.

The soon to rise sports center was funded by the senator and CIBAC Party List wherein the construction will be handled by the Bulacan First District Engineering Office of the Department of Public Works and Highway (DPWH) headed by District Engineer Henry Alcantara.

The groundbreaking ceremony was held on the day of former Mayor Joni Villanueva birthdate wherein Senator Villanueva committed himself that every year of November 24 he will have a significant program or project for Bocaueños in honor to the late mayor.

“Hindi kami bibitiw sa mga pangarap ni Mayor Joni para sa bayan, gaya ng kaniyang sinasabi nang nabubuhay pa… Bocaueños deserves nothing but only the best,” Sen Villanueva said as he compared her sister to a “lamp” who gives light and hope for her constituents until to her last breath during Covid-19 pandemic.

Municipal Councilor Atty. Gidgette Jose said, to make the dream sports complex come true for the people of Bocaue, Senator Villanueva and Congressman Rivera continued the projects as a gift for the late mayor’s birthday on Tuesday.

The senator added that the sports complex which will be named to her sister and can also be used as evacuation center in the future wherein the construction will be completed next year.

Coincided during the groudbreaking ceremony is the symbolical turn-over of checks amounting to P.5-million from the Local Government Support Fund for fifteen village chiefs for the purchase of 15 multicabs for their barangays.
