A TOTAL of P5.7 million worth of shabu were seized during buy-bust operations conducted in the San Miguel and Tondo areas in Manila last October 4 and 5.

A report from the Manila Police District (MPD) indicated that the twin operations yielded a total of 835 grams of illegal drugs.

A total of seven drug suspects were apprehended in the two operations.

The first buy-bust operation was conducted at 153 Marayag Street, Barangay 648 in San Miguel, Manila, that resulted in the arrest of 67-year-old Nasfira Nassir Abdulla, who yielded 16 transparent plastic sachets that contain some 735 grams of suspected shabu worth P4.99 million.

On the other hand, 100 grams of suspected shabu worth P680,000 was also seized in Tondo. The six drug suspects arrested by the authorities were identified as Jonathan Balingit, 24 years old; Esmelita Tumbagahan, 61 years old; Renalyn Silverio, 40 years old; Aldwin Castillo, 43 years old; Anna Punzal, 40 years old; and Mark Echalar, 42 years old.

Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief, Police General Guillermo Eleazar commended the two successful anti-illegal drugs operations conducted by MPD personnel.

The public can rest assured that these types of operations by the police will continue to finally put an end to the selling and use of illegal drugs in the communities,” he said.

I am directing the MPD to further conduct investigation into this to identify the suspects’ other possible cohorts and to find out if they are part of a bigger drug syndicate,” PGen Eleazar added.
