Second booster dose to be given starting April 25 — DOH

A TOP official of the Department of Health (DOH) confirmed that the government will start the administration of the second booster shot against COVID-19 on April 25, 2022.

This was confirmed by DOH Undersecretary and spokesperson Ma. Rosario Vergeire during a virtual briefing.

Vergeire said the issue suffered a slight delay since the IATF was still awaiting for the final recommendation of the Health Technology  Assessment Council (HTAC) before issuing guidelines in administering the second booster shot against COVID-19.

It can be recalled that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the application of the DOH to administer the second booster shot to the senior citizens, the immonocompromised and frontline health workers.

According to the DOH, the second booster shot is given four months after giving the first booster shot.

Aside from this, the DOH earlier requested the FDA to approve the giving of booster shots to minors, or those aged 12-17 years old although there are still no updates on this.
