SBMA turns over ₱1.4 Billion in dividends to DOF

The Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) has officially remitted ₱1,465,478,485.70 in revenue earnings to the Department of Finance (DOF) in a ceremonial handover held at the DOF Building, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Complex, on July 14, 2025.

SBMA Chairman and Administrator Eduardo Jose L. Aliño presented the mock check to Finance Secretary Ralph G. Recto, symbolizing the robust and sustained income generation of businesses operating within the Subic Bay Freeport Zone (SBFZ).

“Today, we once again gather to celebrate the strength of good governance and nation-building as the SBMA officially hands over ₱1.4 billion in dividends to the National Treasury,” Secretary Recto said.

Recto praised dividends as his “favorite form of revenue” because they bolster funding for government programs without increasing taxes on the Filipino people.

According to Chairman Aliño, the remittance represents 50 percent of the SBMA’s net earnings in 2024, which amounted to ₱798,267,923.24. An additional ₱667,210,562.46 covers the final installment of dividends from 2022, bringing the total to nearly ₱1.47 billion.

“These figures reflect the economic vitality of the Subic Freeport and the sound fiscal management practices of the SBMA,” Aliño noted.

Recto also underscored the SBMA’s transformative role, recalling its original mandate to convert the former U.S. military base into a self-sustaining, world-class economic zone that creates jobs and drives growth.

“As we look to the future, I urge the SBMA to take the next bold step. We have the talent, the location, the incentives, and the leadership to make Subic not just a regional hub, but a global player,” the finance chief said.

“Let’s keep raising your standards, keep innovating, and keep making Subic the kind of place where investors would want to come, stay, and grow.”

The substantial dividend handover marks a continuing trend of fiscal contribution by SBMA to the National Treasury and serves as a testament to the agency’s commitment to excellence, transparency, and economic sustainability.
