The Consulate General of the Republic of San Marino in the Philippines has provided food assistance to 10 families in Pasay City facing difficulties caused by urban flooding and ongoing construction activities in their community.
The beneficiaries, residents of Barangay 191, Zone 20, also known as Barangay Electrical, received essential food supplies as part of the consulate’s local humanitarian initiative aimed at assisting families experiencing immediate hardship.
Jean Henri Lhuillier, Honorary Consul General of the Republic of San Marino to the Philippines and president and CEO of Cebuana Lhuillier, led the distribution at the San Marino Consulate in Makati City.
“During challenging times, it is important to be present and extend support where it can make a difference,” Lhuillier said. “Through this initiative, we hope to provide these families with some much-needed assistance as they navigate the difficulties brought by the situation in their community.”
The recipient families were selected based on their immediate needs and proximity to the consulate, with the initiative focusing on providing direct assistance to members of the surrounding community.
Beneficiaries welcomed the assistance, saying the food packs helped ease some of the difficulties they were experiencing.
“Malaking tulong po ito sa amin,” said one beneficiary, a grandmother of three.
Another recipient, a single mother from the neighborhood, said the gesture also provided reassurance to families dealing with challenging circumstances.
“Nakakagaan po ng loob na may mga taong handang tumulong sa amin,” she said.
San Marino, regarded as one of the world’s oldest republics, maintains diplomatic relations founded on principles that include peace, solidarity and civic responsibility. The consulate said the Pasay relief initiative was an extension of those principles to its host community in the Philippines.
Through the distribution, the San Marino Consulate sought to provide immediate assistance while strengthening its engagement with communities near its diplomatic mission.
