QC gov’t metes six-month suspension on high-ranking city hall official due to alleged sexual harassment

A HIGH-RANKING official of the local government of Quezon City was meted with a six-month suspension without pay and benefits due to alleged sexual harassment.

In the victim’s complaint letter addressed to Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, the victim allegedly suffered from verbal and physical sexual abuse from the unnamed high-ranking official.

The complaint was immediately sent to the Committee on Decorum and Investigation – Legislative Department.

After a series of hearings, the high-ranking official was proven guilty of a less grave offense of sexual harassment.

Mayor Belmonte likewise confirmed that there is also a sexual harassment complaint filed against one of their employees that they are currently investigating.

The mayor against issued a warning to all city hall employees that she will not hesitate to mete out punishment against anyone who will be involved in acts of violence, abuse and sexual harassment.
