THE public will have to wait longer as a top Palace official hinted at a much later date that the government would be able to start inoculation rollout for the general public.
Vaccine czar Sec. Carlito Galvez said that the government is also integrating the several priority sectors — senior citizens, poor families, and vulnerable communities, in the government’s mass vaccination with the general public.
“Ang projection po namin ang general public, pati na ‘yung mga seniors, poor families, at saka vulnerable communities, we will start ‘yung general public inoculation late April, early May,” averred Galvez, who is expecting the ongoing vaccination of frontline healthcare workers to be completed by the end of March.
He, however, hinted at the possibility of delay. In the event vaccine supply fails to arrive on the expected time, Galvez said the completion of healthcare workers’ inoculation would be moved to April.
The Philippine government on Sunday got its first legal vaccines from China through the COVAX facility — 600,000 Sinovac jabs.
