Presidential bet files DQ case with Comelec

A PRESIDENTIAL aspirant filed a disqualification case with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) and asked the poll body to disqualify candidates conducting premature campaigning.

Ninoy Defino personally filed the disqualification case against presidential bets Bongbong Marcos, Isko Moreno, Panfilo Lacson, Manny Pacquiao, and vice presidentiable Sara Duterte.

According to Defino, premature campaigning by the candidates cited in the disqualification case is a violation of the Comelec’s rules and guidelines since the campaign period has not started yet.

The poll body stated that the official campaign period for national candidates will start in February 2022.

Defino stressed that the Comelec should make an example of a candidate who violates election guidelines.

“I ask the Comelec not to allow itself to be used, and not allow candidates to ignore the process. Right now, they should be disqualified because the campaigning that they are doing does not have Comelec’s approval,” says Defino.

It is also not fair to the other candidates who have no money to do the same early campaigning being done by the candidates mentioned in the disqualification case.
