THE Philippine National Police (PNP) said it will not hesitate to arrest violent rallyists during the first State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.
This will only happen if they cannot stop the rallyists from creating trouble.
In a press conference at Camp Crame, PNP Spokesperson Police Col. Jean Fajardo emphasized that rallyists will only be allowed to hold rallies at designated freedom parks.
This is contrary to the wishes of BAYAN, which is to be able to march and move forward going to the Batasan Complex.
According to Fajardo, there are ongoing talks between the PNP and representatives of the rallyists and they are hoping that the talks will be fruitful.
It can be recalled that PNP Officer-in-Charge Police Lt. Gen. Vincente Danao instructed police personnel who will be on SONA duty to observe maximum tolerance against the rallyists.
For now, the police don’t see the need to use water canons and the mobile jail since they hope that the rallyists will heed their call.
