OPERATIVES from the Philippine National Police-Integrity-Monitoring and Enforcement Group (PNP-IMEG) arrested a member of the Police Security and Protection Group (PSPG) for using a stolen vehicle.
The arrested PSPG member was identified as Police Chief Master Sergeant Allan Casanas.
He was arrested by IMEG Region 4-A members with assistance from the PNP Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) along Chipeco Avenue in Calamba City, Laguna last night.
According to the IMEG, Casanas was placed under surveillance after the IMEG received information that he was using a Toyota Innova that is included in the wanted list.
It was confirmed by the HPG Vehicle Information Management System that the vehicle was indeed reported stolen since 2012.
Casanas reasoned out that the vehicle he was driving came from a friend.
He was asked to show any proof of ownership but was not able to produce any, which led to his arrest.
At present, the suspect is now under the custody of IMEG 4-A and will be charged for violating the Anti-Carnapping Act, including administrative cases at kasong adminstratibo while the vehicle will undergo examination by the PNP-HPG and the Forensic Group.
Meanwhile, PNP Chief Police General Dionardo Carlos warned PNP personnel not to use vehicles recovered from police operations or reported as stolen.
