Police official killed in Cavite ambush

A police official was killed while his wife and daughter were injured in an ambushed set by unidentified armed assailants in Imus City, Cavite early Monday morning.  

Authorities identified the victim as 48-years old Police Capt. Ariel Ilagan, a resident of Barangay Toclong in Kawit, Cavite.

Ilagan is currently assigned at the Southern Police District (SPD) of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).

His wife and their 20-year-old daughter both suffered bullet wounds in their body.

Initial report said, the ambush occurred at around 6:15 a.m. on Monday, November 23, while the Ilagan family boarding a white Toyota Fortuner heading for work.

Upon reaching at the intersection of Lakersfield Subdivision and Alapan Road in Barangay Alapan 1-B, Imus City, they were suddenly stopped by a group of armed men inside a red Toyota Innova without license plate and eventually peppered them with bullets from high powered long firearms.

Capt. Ilagan was killed instantly after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds while his family were immediately rushed to the Pillar Hospital in Barangay Bayan Luma 1.

A follow-up operation by police as well as the investigation to the incident still ongoing.
