A high-ranking police general has been dismissed from service following an investigation that revealed multiple violations of established protocols and ethical standards within his command.
The Internal Affairs Service (IAS) confirmed the dismissal, citing charges of neglect of duty, conduct unbecoming of a police officer, less grave misconduct, and less grave neglect of duty.
In addition to the general’s dismissal, seven other police officers were demoted, while 17 were suspended for their roles in the incident.
The IAS report found that the police general failed to ensure that operations under his supervision adhered to established protocols, resulting in serious breaches of conduct by his subordinates.
The investigation further revealed that the general did not exercise effective oversight or take timely actions to address procedural violations and gross misconduct among his personnel.
IAS Director-General Dulay underscored the significance of accountability and transparency within the Philippine National Police (PNP).
“Command responsibility is not just a principle; it is a cornerstone of ethical law enforcement,” Dulay stated.
“Leaders must ensure that their teams operate within the bounds of the law. When they fail, they will be held accountable.”
The disciplinary actions reflect the PNP’s commitment to maintaining professionalism and upholding public trust in the organization.
