THE Philippine National Police (PNP) said it will immediately coordinate with the Department of Justice (DOJ) which has finished its review on 52 police anti-illegal drug operation case folders forwarded by the PNP.
“From my first day as Chief PNP, we already made sure of aggressive reforms in the organization, which includes transparency to strengthen accountability, right all wrongs, and eventually put an end to this issue that has been a big hindrance in our victories against illegal drugs,” said PNP Chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar.
“The PNP welcomes this development and we will immediately coordinate with the DOJ to discuss the results of its review. The PNP has nothing to hide and we are ready to make accountable any member of the organization who will be proven to have abused authority or committed any wrongdoing, especially in our operations against illegal drugs,” he added.
Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra announced the conclusion of the review of the 52 case folders submitted by the PNP and said that he is already going over the findings.
The cases submitted by the PNP for review involve police anti-illegal drug operations which resulted in deaths of either the suspects or police operatives where the Internal Affairs Service found lapses in Police Operating Procedure.
PGen. Eleazar assured that the organization is always open and ready to submit itself to any kind of investigation.
“We assure our kababayan of our continuous and tireless efforts to initiate aggressive reforms to further professionalize and further win back their trust, confidence and respect to their PNP.”
