THE Philippine National Police (PNP) reported another COVID-19 fatality, bringing total deaths in the police ranks to 115.

PNP Chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar confirmed that the fatality was a 54-year-old police officer assigned in Camp Crame, Quezon City.

The police officer underwent an RT-PCR test last September 17 and tested positive for COVID-19 so he was admitted at the Kiangan Quarantine Facility.

He was transferred to a nearby hospital on September 18 after the officer complained of difficulty in breathing and on September 20, he was intubated and moved to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

On September 23, the police officer passed away due to Cardiac Arrhythmia and Pneumonia, according to a family member who confirmed the sad news.

Medical records revealed the officer was diabetic and had received his first shot of the COVID-19 vaccine.

All the assistance and needs will be given to the bereaved family and I would like to extend the PNP’s sincerest condolences,” Eleazar mentioned.

PGen. Eleazar also reported that a total of 152,724 or 68 percent of PNP personnel nationwide have been fully vaccinated already against COVID-19, while over 61,375 or 27.56 percent have yet to receive their second dose. However, there are 8,593, or 3.86 percent, of PNP personnel who are not yet vaccinated.

The Philippine National Police Health Service (PNP-HS) also reported that there are 144 more confirmed cases which brings the total to 38,916 infected police officers with 2,266 listed as active cases. There were also 168 recorded recoveries, thus raising the total to 36,535 the total number of police personnel who have recovered from the virus.
