PNP destroys over P4.4-M worth of marijuana plants in Cebu City

A total of P4.4-million worth of full-grown marijuana trees were destroyed by police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) personnel Monday evening at Sitio Sampinitan, Brgy. Tagba-o, Cebu City.

Police General Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar, Chief PNP, said that the PNP and PDEA operatives uprooted more or less 11,200 fully grown marijuana plants with an estimated value of P4,480,000.

The uprooting operation was headed by the Cebu Provincial Police Office, SWAT, PNP Drug Enforcement Group-Special Operations Unit 7 (PDEG-SOU7) led by PLt.Col. Regino Maramag, in coordination with PDEA RO VII Cebu.

The 800-sqm space was owned by a certain Boy Ardimer.

Manhunt operations is underway to arrest the said supect, appropriate court charges await against the weed cultivator,” Eleazar said.

Cases for violation of Sec. 16, Art. II of R.A 9165 are now being prepared for filling against the aforementioned suspect.
