In anticipation of a possible eruption of Taal Volcano, members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Batangas such as the Batangas Provincial Police Office (BPPO), the Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB) 4A, the 1st and 2nd Batangas Provincial Mobile Force Company (BPMFC), and the Batangas Provincial and Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council in Talisay, Batangas, recently conducted a simulation exercise to map out a possible evacuation plan.
Each station laid out systems that they will put into place or an evacuation plan to ensure an orderly evacuation, possible pick-up points and designated evacuation centers in each barangay and municipality for residents who will be affected.
Even road blockings within the 14-km danger zones in the province are likewise being prepared.
According to BPPO Provincial Director PCol. Rex Arvin Malimban, “The provincial police, including other government agencies, are relentless in its efforts to ensure the safety of every citizen, especially now that we are still in the middle of a pandemic,” he said.
He also enjoined everyone to be ready, alert and establish an open line of communication with the authorities and law enforcement agencies. This includes monitoring of updates from official Facebook accounts so the public may know what to do based on the overall plan to avoid panic and to ensure efficient operations.
